Getting around

Transport in Rome

  • Rome Metro — line A to Flaminio or Ottaviano, then a tram or bus up the Via Flaminia.
  • Tram 2 — the usual last leg from Flaminio toward the stadium.
  • Local buses run along the Via Flaminia and Via del Foro Italico to the ground.
Planning

A football weekend in Rome

The Olimpico can host both Rome clubs, so a weekend with two home fixtures is possible — but the ground is not on the metro, and the last leg is always on a tram or bus. Allow a full hour for the journey from the centre.

Whichever ground you choose, the pattern of the day is the same: travel in with the crowd, arrive at the turnstiles about an hour before kick-off, and leave the return journey until the first surge has cleared. In Rome that advice matters most at the nearest station to the ground, where the queue builds within minutes of the final whistle.
